Linear in Slack

A Linear Slack integration you talk to

Turn a thread into a Linear issue, ask what is in the cycle, move an issue along. Kipwise Agent uses your own Linear account and shows an Approve card before it changes anything.

7-day trial on install. No card needed.

Sample data

How Linear works in Slack

Ask, approve, done.

Ask

In the thread where it came up

“Create a Linear issue for this and assign Marco.” The agent reads the thread for what to put in it.

Connect

Once, with your own Linear login

The agent posts a private link the first time. Comments and status changes are attributed to your account.

Approve

Before it files or changes

Creating or updating an issue shows its details on a card. Only you can press it.

Status

Ask what is in the cycle

List and search issues, projects, cycles, labels and members, with the issues linked.

Ask to move an issue and approve the change.

Events

Post when an issue is marked done

Say it once and the agent posts in the channel each time. It reads the issue in Linear first, and only for the account you connected.

Sample data

What to ask it first

  • @Kipwise create a Linear issue for this and assign Marco

It shows an Approve card, then files the issue from the thread.

  • @Kipwise what's in the current cycle?

It lists the cycle’s issues with their state and owner.

  • @Kipwise add a comment to the checkout issue: fixed in the next release

It shows the comment on a card first. The comment is under your name.

  • @Kipwise when an issue is marked done, post it here

It asks once, then posts each time it happens.

Connecting Linear

Once, per person
When a request needs Linear, the agent posts a private link. Only the person who asked can complete it, with their own Linear login. Nobody shares a token.
What it can do
Read and search issues, projects, cycles, labels and members. Create, update, archive and delete issues, add comments, create projects and labels. Deleting an issue or comment happens only for the exact item you name. Deleted issues can be recovered from Linear’s trash for a while; deleting a comment is permanent.
Events
An automation can start when an issue is marked done, and it re-reads the issue with your access first.
Disconnect
Ask the agent to “disconnect my Linear”. It deletes the access it stored and revokes it at Linear.
Admin control
A workspace admin can switch Linear lookups or changes, or a single tool, off.

Questions

Is there a Slack Linear integration that creates issues?

Yes. Add the Kipwise Agent to Slack, connect Linear once, and ask it in the thread to file an issue with what was said there. An Approve card comes first.

Can it create issues from a Slack thread?

Yes. Ask it in the thread, and it files the issue with what was said there, after you approve.

Does it change issues on its own?

No. Every create, update or delete shows an Approve card, and only the person who asked can press it.

Does it use my Linear account?

Yes. Each person connects their own account, so the agent sees only what that person can see.

What does it cost?

$10 per user a month, for at least 3 users. That includes $5 of AI credit per person and $2 per person of shared team credit every month. Add it to Slack and the free trial starts on your first message, no card needed.

Can it change things without asking?

No. Before it edits a page, updates a record or posts a message, it shows an Approve or Deny card in the thread. Only the person who asked can approve it, and the card expires after 30 minutes. A denied or expired card runs nothing.

Can an admin switch it off?

Yes. A workspace admin can switch a whole service, or a single tool, off, so a listed ability may be off in your workspace.

Does it work in Microsoft Teams?

Yes. The same agent runs in Microsoft Teams, with the same tools, approvals, memory and scheduled tasks.

Ask for it in the thread

Add it to Slack, connect once, and ask.
