Asana + Kipwise Agent

Find, create and update Asana tasks and projects from Slack or Teams, as you. Every change waits for your approval, under your own Asana account.

Ask in Slack, get it done in Asana

Kipwise Agent works in Asana as each person, through their own connection, in Slack and Microsoft Teams. Every change shows an Approve card first.

  • Find tasks by words, person, project, section, due date or done state.
  • Read one task with its notes, comments, subtasks and files.
  • List your projects and read one with its sections, progress and status updates.
  • Open a file attached to a task: text, PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are read, and pictures are shown.
  • Create tasks and subtasks with a project, section, assignee, due date and notes.
  • Change a task: name, notes, assignee, dates, section, completion and custom fields.
  • Comment on a task with @mentions.
  • Delete a task. It asks first, and Asana keeps it in its trash for 30 days.
  • Attach a file from the Slack thread, or a picture it made.
  • Create a project with sections, rename or extend it, archive it, and post a status update.

Ask in your own words

  • “What’s due this week in Asana?”
  • “Create an Asana task for each action from this thread, assigned and with a due date.”
  • “Move the onboarding task to Done in the Website project.”
  • “Post an on-track status update on the Launch project.”

Asana automation from Slack

Ask once, in a sentence: “tell me here when a task in Launch is completed.” You approve it, and later runs post in the same conversation. It can start when:

  • a task is added to a project
  • a task is completed
  • a task is assigned
  • a task moves to a section
  • a task’s due date changes
  • someone comments on a task

Each automation watches one project, or your My Tasks. Say “only when it moves to Done” to narrow it to a section or an assignee.

Set up in 2 steps

  1. Mention @Kipwise in Slack and ask about Asana.
  2. Press Connect to link your own Asana account.

FAQs

Access, approvals and pricing for the Asana connection.

Does it act as me in Asana?

Yes. Each person connects their own Asana account from Slack or Teams by pressing Connect, and Kipwise Agent works as that person, with their Asana permissions. It only sees what you can see.

What can it change, and how does approval work?

It can create tasks and subtasks, change a task’s name, notes, assignee, dates, section, completion and custom fields, comment with @mentions, attach a file from the thread, delete a task, create and change projects, and post project status updates. Every change shows an Approve card first, and nothing happens until you press Approve. To delete a task you also give its exact name.

Can it notify Slack when something changes in Asana?

Yes. Ask for an automation, such as “tell me here when a task in Launch is completed.” It can start when a task is added to a project, completed, assigned, moved to a section, given a new due date, or commented on. One project, or My Tasks, per automation.

How do I disconnect Asana?

Ask the agent in Slack: “disconnect my Asana.” It shows an Approve card, and once you approve, your Asana connection is removed.

Does it work on a free Asana plan?

Yes. Full-text search and custom fields come with Asana’s paid plans. On a free plan the agent finds tasks by name, person or project and tells you which kind of search it ran. Everything else works on any Asana plan.

What about guests in shared channels?

A guest connects their own Asana account and works with what Asana has shared with them. Nobody acts through someone else’s Asana login.

What does it cost?

Kipwise Agent is a separate paid add-on: $10 per user per month or $108 per user per year (USD, excluding tax), with a three-user minimum. It works with any Kipwise plan. See Kipwise pricing.
