Zendesk alternative for teams on Slack
A Zendesk alternative that lives where your team already talks
Zendesk’s reviewers write about per-resolution bills and conversations handed over with no context. Kipwise Agent answers from your help center first and hands the conversation to a person in Slack, with no per-resolution fee.
7-day trial on install. No card needed.

The same refund question, answered first and handed over with its history
Left, things Zendesk’s users report. Right, a conversation that lands in Slack with a draft reply for a person to approve.
Where it hurts today
“At the rate we're being billed, it'd be cheaper to handle these with humans than pay $1.5 per.”Reddit r/Zendesk, August 2026
“multi-step actions were clunky and half the time it'd dump the user into a queue with zero context.”Reddit r/Zendesk, October 2026

Hi Priya, annual plans can be refunded within 30 days. I’ve started yours.

What Zendesk’s users say about AI bills, handoffs and setup
“At the rate we're being billed, it'd be cheaper to handle these with humans than pay $1.5 per.”
With KipwiseThere is no per-resolution fee. An AI answer uses your team’s agent credit at the model’s cost, with no markup.
“Simply entering a flow that tells the customer we’re outside business hours can already count as a resolution and incur a cost, even when no generative AI is actually involved.”
With KipwiseThere is no resolution count. Credit is spent when a model runs, at that model’s cost.
“…multi-step actions were clunky and half the time it'd dump the user into a queue with zero context.”
With KipwiseA handoff lands in Slack with the conversation, so whoever picks it up reads what was said before replying.
“Main reason to move away from Zendesk AI - the complexity in wiring it up.”
With KipwiseThere is nothing to wire. Add the agent to Slack, put one script tag on your site, and we set up your inbox with you on a 20-minute call.
What you get instead
A support desk that comes with the agent, answers from your help center first, and lets a person decide.
Answer
The help center first
A visitor’s message is answered from your public help center, with the source shown. If the sources don’t support an answer, or the visitor asks for a person, it hands the conversation over once.
Hand over
Into Slack, with a draft
The conversation lands where your team is, with a draft reply. Nothing a customer can see goes out until a person approves it.
Price
Included with the agent
There is no separate price. The Kipwise Agent is $10 per user a month, at least 3 users. AI answers use the agent credit.
Zendesk vs Kipwise
Zendesk is a full help desk. Kipwise is the part of one that small teams on Slack use every day, with an agent on top.
| Zendesk | Kipwise | |
|---|---|---|
| AI answers | AI agents billed per automated resolution: $1.50 committed, $2.00 pay-as-you-go | No per-resolution fee; the answer uses agent credit at the model’s cost |
| Assistant for your agents | Copilot add-on $50 per agent a month, paid yearly (Pro and up) | The same Kipwise Agent in Slack or Teams, included at $10 per user |
| Where your team works | In the Zendesk agent workspace | In Slack or Microsoft Teams, where the conversation lands |
| What it covers | Tickets, help center, reporting, apps | Chat widget, shared inbox, tickets, saved replies, contacts and AI answers from your public help center |
Details from each vendor’s own pricing page and public reviews, read 19 October 2026. No head-to-head test of the same work has been run.
What to ask it first
@Kipwise what's the status of the ticket from Acme?
If you connect Zendesk, it reads the ticket and answers with the latest update.
@Kipwise draft a reply to Priya about the refund
It writes the reply and shows an Approve card before anything a customer can see goes out.
@Kipwise post here when a conversation has waited 2 hours
It asks once when you create it, then tells the channel when it happens.
@Kipwise write our refund answer up for the help center
It drafts the page from the thread, shows an Approve card and posts the link.
Questions
Does Kipwise replace Zendesk?
For small teams that need a chat widget, a shared inbox, tickets and AI answers from a public help center, yes. If you keep Zendesk, the agent connects to it: it reads tickets and help articles, replies (a public reply waits for your approval) and solves them. See the Zendesk integration.
Where do the AI answers come from?
Only from your public help center, plus a docs site you have connected. It does not read your private pages. If the sources do not support an answer it hands off to your team instead of guessing.
What does it cost?
Nothing extra for the desk. The Kipwise Agent is $10 per user a month, at least 3 users. AI answers to visitors use the team’s agent credit, so a heavy day of questions draws on it.
How does this compare with Zendesk AI agents and Zendesk AI chat?
Zendesk bills its AI agents per automated resolution: $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go, with a monthly allowance by plan, and the Copilot add-on is $50 per agent a month on yearly billing for Pro and up (Zendesk pricing, read October 2026). Kipwise has no per-resolution fee: the desk comes with the Kipwise Agent at $10 per user a month, and AI answers to visitors draw on the team’s credit at $1 of model cost per credit.
Is there a comparison with Intercom?
Yes: Intercom alternatives.
Can it change things without asking?
No. Before it edits a page, updates a record or posts a message, it shows an Approve or Deny card in the thread. Only the person who asked can approve it, and the card expires after 30 minutes. A denied or expired card runs nothing.
Does it work in Microsoft Teams?
Yes. The same agent runs in Microsoft Teams, with the same tools, approvals, memory and scheduled tasks.
