SharePoint + Kipwise Agent
Search SharePoint and read files, including Teams channel files, from Slack or Teams, as you. Read-only, under your own work or school Microsoft account.
Ask in Slack, find it in SharePoint
Kipwise Agent is an AI teammate that finds the document and reads it for you. It works as each person, through their own Microsoft connection, in Slack and Microsoft Teams. It only reads: it cannot change SharePoint files.
- Search SharePoint for a document.
- List the sites you can see.
- Browse a folder.
- Read a file’s text. Text files, PDFs, and Word, Excel and PowerPoint files work.
- Reach a Teams channel’s files. They live in the team’s SharePoint site.
Ask in your own words
- “Find the latest travel policy on SharePoint.”
- “Which SharePoint sites can I see?”
- “What is in the Policies folder on the HR site?”
- “Read the Q3 plan in the Marketing team’s files and list the risks.”
What it does not do
- It does not change SharePoint files. Access is read-only.
- It does not read Teams chats or channel messages, only channel files.
- It does not work with a personal Microsoft account. SharePoint needs a work or school Microsoft 365 account. For your own files, see OneDrive.
Microsoft’s own AI or the agent in Slack
Microsoft’s own AI is Microsoft 365 Copilot, which Microsoft sells per user on top of a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan. It works inside Microsoft 365.
Kipwise Agent works from Slack and Teams and reads SharePoint through your own Microsoft account. It acts as the person who asks and works across their other connected tools in the same conversation.
Set up in 2 steps
- Mention @Kipwise in Slack and ask about SharePoint.
- Press Connect and sign in with your work or school Microsoft account. SharePoint is its own connection, asked the first time you use it.
Some organisations only let an administrator approve a new app. If Microsoft shows “Need admin approval”, ask your admin to approve Kipwise Agent.
FAQs
Access, what it can read and pricing for the SharePoint connection.
Does it act as me in SharePoint?
Yes. Each person connects their own Microsoft 365 work or school account from Slack or Teams by pressing Connect, and Kipwise Agent reads as that person, with their access. A site, folder or file you cannot open cannot be read to you through the agent.
Can it change SharePoint files?
No. SharePoint is read-only here. It searches, lists sites, browses folders and reads files, and it cannot change them.
Does it work with Teams channel files?
Yes. A Teams channel’s files live in the team’s SharePoint site, so the agent can search and read them. It cannot read Teams chats or channel messages.
Does it work with a personal Microsoft account?
No. SharePoint needs a work or school Microsoft 365 account. For files in a personal OneDrive, see OneDrive + Kipwise Agent.
Why does Microsoft say “Need admin approval”?
Some organisations only let an administrator approve a new app. Ask your Microsoft 365 admin to approve Kipwise Agent, then connect again.
How do I disconnect SharePoint?
Ask the agent in Slack: “disconnect SharePoint.” It deletes the access it stored. Microsoft has no way for an app to revoke it, so Kipwise Agent may still be listed in your Microsoft account’s connected apps until you remove it there.
What does it cost?
Kipwise has one plan, the Kipwise Agent: $10 per user a month, or $108 per user a year (USD, excluding tax), for at least 3 users. It includes $5 of AI credit per person and $2 per person of shared team credit every month. Installing it also puts your team on Premium, with the knowledge base’s Premium features, the support desk, the request desk and Tasks, at no extra price while the agent is on trial or paid. See Kipwise pricing.
