Dropbox + Kipwise Agent
Search, read, upload, update, delete and restore your Dropbox files from Slack. Every change waits for your approval, under your own Dropbox account.
How it works
Connect your own Dropbox account from Slack or Microsoft Teams. Kipwise Agent works as you, under your Dropbox account and what you can already open there. Every change waits for your approval first, and a file in a reply comes back as a link to Dropbox.
- Install Kipwise Agent in Slack from kipwise.com/auth/agent/install.
- Ask the agent to connect Dropbox and allow it from your own Dropbox account. Dropbox shows a short warning first, because the app is new: choose Continue, then Allow.
- Ask in plain words in a channel or DM to find a file, open a folder or read a note.
What you can do
- Find files and folders by name, and list what is in a folder.
- Read a file and summarise it: text, Markdown, CSV and JSON files, PDFs, and Word, PowerPoint and Excel files.
- Show a picture in the thread.
- Upload a new text file, or a picture the agent made, into a folder after you approve it.
- Change a file’s text or rename it after you approve the change. New text becomes a new version, so the old one stays in Dropbox’s version history.
- Delete a file after you approve it, and restore a deleted file to its last version.
A scanned PDF or a file type the agent cannot read comes back as a named link to the file in Dropbox. The agent shows you a picture in the thread but cannot see it, so it does not describe it.
Permissions and data
- Each person connects their own Dropbox account. The agent can open what that person can open in Dropbox, and nothing else.
- The agent uses the information needed for your request.
FAQs
Access and pricing for the Dropbox connection.
What happens when I delete a file?
The agent asks for your approval and for the file’s exact name. The file moves to Dropbox’s deleted files, where you or the agent can restore it. How long Dropbox keeps deleted files depends on your Dropbox plan.
Why does Dropbox show a warning when I connect?
Dropbox shows it for every new app that few people have connected so far. Choose Continue, then check the permissions on the next screen and choose Allow.
How do I disconnect Dropbox?
Ask Kipwise Agent to disconnect Dropbox. Each teammate can disconnect their own account, and the agent also ends the connection at Dropbox.
What Dropbox data does Kipwise Agent use?
It accesses the Dropbox information needed for the request you make, through your own connected Dropbox account and permissions.
How much does Kipwise Agent cost?
Kipwise Agent is a separate paid add-on: $10 per user per month or $108 per user per year (USD, excluding tax), with a three-user minimum. It works with any Kipwise plan. See Kipwise pricing.
