Delete your data
Last updated: 8 Oct, 2026
This page is for people whose Facebook Page, Instagram account or Threads profile is connected to Kipwise Agent in a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel. It explains what Kipwise stores, how to delete it and how to check your request. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use this data.
What Kipwise Agent stores
We store the data below on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Facebook, Instagram and Threads are run by Meta.
| What we store | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Access token. The token that lets the agent use your account. It is encrypted. | Until the connection ends. A connection ends when someone disconnects the account, when Kipwise Agent is uninstalled from the Slack workspace or removed from the Teams team or channel, or when Meta ends the access and the agent next tries to use it. |
| Connection details. The account's id, name and link. The name and chat id of the person who connected it. The permissions they granted. When the connection was made and renewed. For Threads, the date Meta's data access for the profile ends. The channel's alert setting: which kinds of alert, if any, are on. | The same as the access token. |
| Approval records. When the agent shows an approval card, we keep a record of it: the exact text and the list of files, the comment being answered with its author's handle, and the result. These records are encrypted. | A card that nobody approves expires after 30 minutes. Records are deleted 7 days after they were created. |
| Alert notices. If a channel turns on alerts, Meta notifies us of new comments, messages, replies and mentions on its account, and we post an alert in the channel. We keep the text of a notice only while we handle it. | The text is removed once the notice has been handled. A record of ids and the kind of event, without any text, is deleted after 7 days. |
| Files you attach for Instagram or Threads. Instagram and Threads fetch files from a web address. We copy each file to Amazon S3 and give them a link that works for 1 hour. | Deleted as soon as Instagram or Threads has fetched the file. A storage rule deletes anything left after 1 day. A file sent in an Instagram direct message is not deleted on fetch, so it stays until that rule removes it. |
| Microsoft Teams transcript. In Teams, a transcript of the conversation, including the agent's own replies and cards. | 90 days. |
| Action log. A record of each action the agent takes: which action ran, who asked, when, and whether it worked. Of any text you gave it, only the length is kept, not the text. A failed action also keeps its error message. | Until you ask us to delete it. |
| Server logs. They can show ids of accounts, posts and comments. | 30 days. |
| Database backups. | 7 days. A record we delete can stay in a backup until the backup expires. |
How to delete your data
Use any one of these three ways.
- Ask the agent to disconnect the account. In the Slack or Microsoft Teams channel where the account is connected, ask the agent to disconnect it. Any member of the workspace that owns the channel can do this. Guests cannot. A card first says that everyone in the channel will lose the connection. When you approve it, we delete the stored connection and its access token. This does not remove Kipwise Agent from your account at Facebook, Instagram or Threads, because the same account may be connected in another channel. Removing the agent from a Slack channel does not disconnect the account, so disconnect it first.
- Remove Kipwise Agent in your Facebook, Instagram or Threads settings. Remove the app called "Kipwise Agent" from your account. Meta then notifies Kipwise, and we delete the stored connection. If Meta gives you a confirmation code, keep it so you can check the request.
- Email us. Write to [email protected] or [email protected]. Tell us the name of the Page, Instagram account or Threads profile, and the Slack workspace or Teams team where it is connected. We confirm the workspace, then delete the data we hold for that connection, such as the stored connection, approval records and the action log.
How long it takes
We complete every deletion request within 30 days. Disconnecting an account, or removing the app at Facebook, Instagram or Threads, deletes the stored connection and its access token. Other items expire on the schedule in the table above. If you email us, we delete those too, within the same 30 days. A record we delete can stay in a backup for up to 7 days.
Check the status of a request
If Meta gave you a confirmation code, open this address and replace YOUR_CODE with your code:
https://agent.kipwise.com/oauth/meta/deletion-status/?code=YOUR_CODE
If you asked by email, write to that address again and ask about your request.
What stays with you
We can only delete what we store. These stay where they are:
- Messages the agent already posted in your Slack workspace or Microsoft Teams. You control them, and your own retention settings apply. Delete them in Slack or Teams.
- Posts, comments and messages the agent sent to Facebook, Instagram or Threads. They are on those services. Remove them there.
